The second day of the new year brings a heck of a 13-game slate in the NHL. In addition to the quantity of games, fans will be treated to some heavyweight bouts between playoff contenders. Among Tuesday’s matchups are Hurricanes vs Rangers, Capitals vs Penguins, Lightning vs Jets, Panthers vs Coyotes, Islanders vs Avalanche, Flyers vs Oilers and Maple Leafs vs Kings. Even if your team is not suited up tonight, there is a little bit of everything on this huge slate to enjoy. As a result, I have created a 3-game NHL mega parlay for tonight’s action at +990 odds, which you can read below. You can also check out our NHL predictions for today’s games.
Bruins -1.5 (+105)
Penguins ML & Under 6 (+188)
Wild ML (-118)
NHL parlay odds: +990
Boston Bruins -1.5 over Columbus Blue Jackets (+105)
This may be the most lopsided game on this slate. The Bruins have the 2nd-best point percentage in the NHL while the Blue Jackets may be contending for the draft lottery again. Boston had a bit of a mid-December slump, but they have since snapped out of it with a current 3-game win streak by a combined score of 14-6.
The Blue Jackets have played decent hockey lately but if the Bruins bring anything close to their A-game, it should be enough to comfortably take care of business. Boston has won 7 of their last 8 games against Columbus and is in a good spot to reinforce those trends.
Tail our expert’s best NHL player prop bets for tonight — he’s on a 10-2 run!
Pittsburgh Penguins ML over Washington Capitals & Under 6 (+188)
The Penguins were middling for about 2 months but they are currently on a 7-1-1 run, which has them just a point out of a playoff spot. Things look a little worse for Washington, which was 5-5-4 in December and is winless in their last 4 games. The Capitals have also dropped 6 of their last 9 road games.
In addition to this one looking good for the Penguins, the under adds solid value to this game. Washington and Pittsburgh rank 31st and 21st respectively in the NHL in goals scored per game. The under has hit in 6 of Washington’s last 8 games and in 13 of Pittsburgh’s last 20 games. In their sole head-to-head matchup this season, Pittsburgh won 4-0. Take the Penguins and the under as an SGP at +188 odds.
Minnesota Wild ML over Calgary Flames (-118)
The Wild have been one of the NHL’s hottest teams over the past month. Since November 28, they are 11-5-0 and have climbed back into relevance in the Western Conference wild-card picture. Until they cool down even a little bit, Minnesota is proving to be a consistently reliable play.
The Flames had a decent November, but were 5-6-2 in December. Ugly October and December months for the Flames have them under .500 at the turn of the calendar. They have dropped 5 of their last 6 games on the road and are far from a reliable team. The Wild are in too good of form and the Flames are too big of a question mark. This one looks good for Minnesota.
