This weekend is in hockey is capped by a nice 6-game slate. There is plenty that may look different this time next week due to Friday’s trade deadline. It is crunch time for several teams suited up on Sunday that may meet their seasons fate in just a week. With that, these Sunday games may have a playoff feel as every game features at least one team battling for a playoff spot, or position in their likely playoff spot. This will be an entertaining day of hockey.
Along with our NHL mega parlay, make sure you read our NHL predictions for today’s action.
Capitals win and under 6 (+194)
Canucks -1.5 (+105)
Oilers win (-180)
NHL parlay odds: +837
Capitals win and under 6 (+194)
This game is a big one for the Capitals. Washington currently finds themselves 5 points out of a playoff spot but with games in hand. Every point they can collect is massive at this point in the season. They will face a Coyotes team that just snapped a 14-game losing streak. Arizona is reeling and Washington can take advantage.
The under gives the Washington pick much more value as a same game parlay. The Coyotes rank 24th in the NHL in goals scored per game and the Capitals rank 30th. Offensive metrics both 5 on 5 and on the power play are nothing special either. There is not enough offense in this game to give the over any appeal.
Canucks -1.5 (+105)
This is a bit of a get-right spot for the Canucks. All in all, Vancouver is far and away the better team. So it is not exactly going out on a limb to pick them to win and even win big. But the Canucks are 1-5-1 in their last 7 games.
While it is not much cause for legitimate concern, Vancouver’s slump is one they will want to break out of. Look for the Canucks to come out with maybe even more urgency than they otherwise would have if they were still on autopilot. The Canucks are the better team, will be playing hard, and have plus money on this puck line. This is good value and a good spot.
Oilers win (-180)
This is a big game for both teams. The Penguins are 7 points out of a playoff spot but do have games in hand. This game, along with their next 2 this week, will be a big deciding factor in what this roster looks like post-trade deadline. The Oilers are in a playoff spot, but have dropped 3 out of their last 5.
In what is an important game for both teams, the Oilers are the more reliable play. They have gone scorched earth for over 3 months, they have been better for a long stretch of time, and overall plain look to have the better team. This one looks a little bit better for the Oilers.
