Today is an excellent day for sports fans as we not only have NBA, college basketball, NFL and college football taking place, but also a 13-game NHL slate on tap. I’ve mostly stuck to player props for my hockey articles, but this seems like a prime opportunity to take my shot at nailing a multi-leg parlay.
Below I’ve given my favorite picks for today’s slate along with the parlay odds if you were to combine each selection. Don’t forget to check out our NHL picks for a breakdown of every single game on today’s exciting schedule.
Bruins ML (-110)
Red Wings 3-Way ML (+170)
Kings vs Kraken Under 5.5 (+104)
NHL parlay odds: +957
Boston Bruins ML vs New York Rangers (-110)
Both of these teams will be on the second leg of a back-to-back in this one, but Boston will actually get to be at home for this affair. You could say the Bruins have scuffled a bit as of late, with just a 2-2 record over their last 4 games, but New York has been on an even more severe downward trend. They’ve lost 3 of their last 5 games.
To be completely transparent, this is more of a value play than anything. There aren’t many times this season where we can get the Bruins ML at a price like this, and all things considered, they match up okay with the Rangers. Look for both goaltenders to have solid outings here, but I’ll take Boston to outlast New York in this one.
Detroit Red Wings 3-way ML vs Philadelphia Flyers (+170)
Life without Dylan Larkin has been tough for the Wings, but this is a great bounce-back opportunity on the road. They have actually been a better team away from home as of late, coming out victorious in 3 of their last 4 road contests. Defense has been the main issue for Detroit this season, but Philadelphia isn’t an offensive juggernaut by any means.
The Flyers’ 3 goals per game in this campaign rank just 22nd in the league, which should allow the Wings to really focus on their offense in this contest. That’s where they’ve really excelled, with the league’s 2nd-best offense from a goal-per-game standpoint (3.7). Both teams have had solid starts to the year, but Detroit matches up pretty well with Philly.
Los Angeles Kings vs Seattle Kraken Under 5.5 (+104)
If you’re looking to watch a battle between one of the NHL’s best defensive teams go up against one of the worst offensive teams, this is the matchup for you. The Kings are 2nd in the league in both goals allowed (2.4) and shots allowed (27) per game, and just 2 of their last 8 games have resulted in more than 5 total goals.
On the other side, Seattle averages just 2.6 goals per contest (29th in NHL) and seems to get blanked on the scoreboard about once a week. The Kraken have been better recently but haven’t faced a defense like that of the Kings. I’d be shocked if this matchup ended up with even 5 total goals, but we’ll take the half a goal just in case.
