Best NFL player props for Week 5: Gesicki burns Buccaneers

Mike Gesicki NFL player prop

A typical NFL Sunday will take us on twists and turns better than any roller coaster in the world. While sides, totals, parlays, teasers are all fun and should be fully deployed, we can’t forget about the NFL player props. In Greek, the term player prop literally translates to “action of the Gods”. They are the highest form of gambling a person can do. The thing is, you have to be careful with these things.  Luckily, I have one for the early and late slates to sprinkle onto your Week 5 card. Nobody looks out for the people quite like us here at Pickswise. Nobody.

On top of this article, you should definitely check out our NFL experts’ picks. It’s just a smart thing to do. Also, bets can be added to the card, so why not follow me on Twitter so you don’t miss them. It makes perfect sense.

Mike Gesicki over 3.5 receptions (-135)

Line available at DraftKings at time of publishing.

DraftKings is the only book I’ve seen with this NFL player prop but it was good enough for me. I can’t imagine any other book on the planet could come out with a worse number for a better price, so I jumped. We have to shop around but we also have to see opportunity when it slaps you right in the face.

Over the past 2 weeks with Jacoby Brissett running the show, no Dolphin has been targeted more than tight end Mike Gesicki. Over those 2 games he’s seen 18 balls come his way and he’s hauled in 15 of them. You simply don’t see guys with that type of volume numbers, playing for teams that are double-digit underdogs with a 3.5 next to their names. It doesn’t happen. On top of that, DeVante Parker is questionable and Will Fuller is out.

Opponent doesn’t even matter with this one, but let’s pretend it does. Nobody can run on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers again this season. They’ve given up the fewest rushing yards to running backs of any team in the NFL. Teams know this, so they just throw the ball. Only 2 defenses have seen quarterbacks attempt more passes this season than Tampa Bay and that’s because they both have played 5 games already (Rams, Seahawks).

Someone has to catch these passes. Why not a tight end? The Buccaneers have given up more receptions to the position than every other team in the NFL except 1 that has only played 4 games. This is my favorite NFL player prop this week.
