Best NFL Detroit Lions vs Dallas Cowboys touchdown scorer bets: Jahmyr Gibbs steals the show

Detroit Lions running back Jahmyr Gibbs (26) rushes the ball for a touchdown against the Chicago Bears during the first half at Soldier Field.

If you want to see some points, you’ve come to the right game. The Detroit Lions travel to Texas to take on the Dallas Cowboys, and the game total is currently set at the highest number of the entire season: 53.5. A high total means a lot of scoring, so it wasn’t surprising to see plenty of players near even odds to score. In fact, there are six players who have odds of +125 or shorter to score a touchdown. Of those six, I’ve chosen two players as my best bets to score on Saturday night.

Detroit Lions touchdown scorer best bet: Jahmyr Gibbs (+100)

Jahmyr Gibbs had 5 touchdowns in the first 13 weeks of the season. The rookie out of Alabama gained plenty of hype in the preseason with the way Dan Campbell talked about his usage, but it took several weeks for Gibbs to even become a normal part of the offense. David Montgomery was the lead back and Gibbs was the backup for the first half of the season. However, times have changed. Explosive runs became the usual for Gibbs, and he’s now getting the majority of the carries each game while also being involved in the passing game. That has led to Gibbs scoring 5 touchdowns in the last 3 weeks. He’s run for 246 yards in his last 37 attempts and will be the center of the ground game against the Cowboys. When the Lions reach the red zone, expect Gibbs to get several opportunities to punch it in for a score.

Dallas Cowboys touchdown scorer best bet: Jake Ferguson (+120)

I want to take CeeDee Lamb very, very badly. However, the rising star has a steep price to find the end zone, so I’ve pivoted to a different member of the Dallas offense. Jake Ferguson is normally targeted the second most each game which gives him plenty of opportunities to find the end zone against a weak Detroit secondary. The Lions allow the 6th most passing yards per game on the road and they will be facing Dak Prescott, who averages over 300 passing yards per game in Dallas this season. It’s the perfect recipe for Prescott, and Ferguson should see the benefits of Prescott’s success. Plus, the Lions allow the 11th most yards per game to tight ends through Week 16. In the end, I wouldn’t be surprised if both Lamb and Ferguson find the end zone.
