NFL Week 1 best bet to make with Caesars: Jaguars -5 over Colts (-110)

During the preseason, the Jaguars looked great as they went undefeated with a 3-0 record while averaging an impressive 28 points and 408.67 yards of offense per game. It’s worth noting that Trevor Lawrence had limited playing time to preserve his freshness. If the offense operated that well with C.J. Beathard under center, then they should be red hot with Lawrence in as the signal-caller. After guiding the Jags to the divisional round in last season’s NFL playoffs, the sky’s the limit for Jacksonville this year and their offense is loaded with the likes of Travis Etienne, Calvin Ridley and Christian Kirk.

On the flip side, the Indianapolis Colts are ushering in a new era with a youthful roster, marking a significant transition in the franchise’s history. Their first-round pick, Anthony Richardson, displayed some inconsistency during the preseason, but he had been known for inaccuracy beforehand and it will be interesting to see how he adapts in the NFL. Unfortunately, Richardson won’t have the luxury of handing the ball off to Jonathan Taylor, who is currently involved in a contract dispute with the Colts. Consequently, Richardson’s help on offense include Zack Moss, Michael Pittman Jr. and Alec Pierce, which isn’t an elite group you can really rely upon. Indianapolis’ strength lies in its defense, which is expected to keep them competitive, but there are limits to what the defense alone can achieve. All things considered, the Jags should be able to win this one by a touchdown and cover the spread.
