Sunday Night Football in Week 15 of the 2022 NFL season features the New York Giants and Washington Commanders in a crucial NFC East contest. While the division title may be out of reach for both teams, they are firmly in wild-card contention. Both New York and Washington are 7-5-1 heading into this primetime showdown.

With kickoff set for 8:15 pm ET on ESPN, it’s time to take a look at the best touchdown scorer bets to be made.

Best New York Giants touchdown scorer bet: Saquon Barkley, RB (+120)

When you can get Saquon Barkley at plus-money – and even well into plus-money, for that matter – to score a touchdown, there really doesn’t have to be much hesitation. He has found the end zone in 8 of 13 games this season, including in 4 of the last 6. Barkley didn’t score last week against Philadelphia and throughout this year he has not gone 2 straight games without reaching paydirt. I don’t see the drought reaching 2 against the Commanders. In the head-to-head matchup (a 20-20 tie) earlier this month, Barkley produced 1 rushing touchdown and had 23 touches (18 carries and 5 receptions). I expect him to have plenty of opportunities in the rematch and to convert at least 1 into 6 points.

Best Washington Commanders touchdown scorer bet: Brian Robinson, RB (+125)

Robinson has a big chance to score a touchdown on Sunday – perhaps even bigger than his friend’s hat company. BRJ has found the end zone in 2 of the last 4 games and he has had at least 20 touches in each of the last 2 outings. Now he faces a New York run defense that is 29th in the NFL (149.7 yards per game allowed) and 2nd-to-last in yards per rush allowed (5.4). The Giants have surrendered 15 TDs on the ground – tied for the 6th-most in the league.

Longshot: Richie James, WR, NYG (+380)

The Commanders’ passing defense is nothing special and they have given up 20 touchdowns through the air. Only 9 teams have surrendered more this season. Meanwhile, James has scored TDs in 3 of the last 4 games and he is coming off a performance against Philadelphia that resulted in season-high totals in catches (7), targets (9) and yards (61). In what has been a depleted Giants receiving corps throughout 2022, James has emerged as a clear WR2 behind Darius Slayton and in the red zone he is probably #1 at this point.

Anytime Touchdown Scorer FAQs

What does “anytime touchdown scorer” mean?

Anytime touchdown scorer is a popular player prop bet that NFL bettors can wager on throughout the season. But what is it, and how do you win?

As the name suggests, placing a wager on the anytime touchdown scorer market is when you tip a particular player to score a touchdown during a game. This can be a rushing or receiving touchdown for an offensive player, or you can wager on a team’s defense/special teams to score a touchdown by interception return and fumble return or kickoff and punt returns.

If your player or defense scores a touchdown, you win! The odds will differ from player-to-player depending on the sportsbooks’ calculated probability of that player scoring.

Does anytime touchdown scorer include passing touchdowns?

Not for a quarterback, no. A player must get into the endzone, himself, in order to qualify as an anytime touchdown scorer. If a quarterback throws a touchdown pass, only the player who caught it counts as the scorer. If Joe Burrow throws a touchdown pass to Ja’Marr Chase, wagers placed on Evans as an anytime touchdown scorer will cash. However, those placed on Rodgers as an anytime touchdown scorer will not (unless he also runs for a TD). See below for more on what the anytime touchdown scorer market means for quarterbacks.

What does anytime touchdown scorer mean for a QB?

For a wager on a QB to be an anytime touchdown scorer to cash, he must follow the same rules as a running back, tight end, or receiver. He must get into the endzone himself, either as a runner or a pass-catcher.

In the age of the mobile quarterback, QBs such as Patrick Mahomes, Lamar Jackson, Josh Allen and Kyler Murray are often seen rushing in for a touchdown on any given Sunday. And don’t forget the occasional Philly Special, either. QBs can sometimes catch passes for TDs, too.
