Show Bio

Like most Lithuanians, I started watching basketball from the age of six. I'm based out in London and played basketball at the University of Lincoln here in the UK. I had always had an interest in the NBA but things really took off in the summer of 2010. That year Linas Kleiza led Lithuania to 3rd place at the World Championships and signed with the Toronto Raptors to replace the departing Chris Bosh. I've been a Raptors fan since that day and I've not missed a game since. I've been handicapping games for more than a decade, specializing in player props. Of the last 10 NBA player prop picks that I have made for Pickswise, 8 have been winners. I will be hoping to keep that going here with 3 more selections from the nights 10-game slate. The most intriguing of the games should be the matchup between the Phoenix Suns and the Utah Jazz. The Jazz have been struggling for form but are always dangerous and cannot be written off.

As always you can find our full game previews here. But for now check out my selections below.

Kristaps Porzingis over 7.5 rebounds (-105)

Kristaps Porzingis has been very consistent rebounding the ball of late, with at least 7 rebounds in each of his last 10 games. He has hit the over on this line in 7 of those contests. In 2 of the games where he failed to hit it, he played less than his season average of 30 minutes. With tonight’s game not expected to be a blowout, that should not be an issue here.

The Dallas Mavericks will have to contend with Jusuf Nurkic in the paint tonight. Due to the his size and rebounding ability, the Mavericks will need to make a concerted effort to crash the boards. Looking at the last 5 games the Trail Blazers have played, at least 2 opposing players were able to record 8 or more rebounds in those contests. Thanks to his size and length, I expect Porzingis to be one of those players for the Mavericks here.

Bismack Biyombo over 12.5 points (-102)

After an uncertain start to the season regarding where he will be playing, Bismack Biyombo has been able to land himself on the Phoenix Suns. Playing with Chris Paul is the perfect scenario for the offensively limited center, as Paul is more than capable of finding him for easy scores close to the rim. With the Deandre Ayton and JaVale McGee out injured, Biyombo should find himself playing big minutes tonight. He has playing 25 or more minutes 5 times in the month of January, with at least 13 points in 4 of those outings. That includes the 16 points he scored in his last game against this very same Utah Jazz team. With the center shooting just above 70 percent from the field, he should be able to take advantage of any opportunities he is presented with tonight.

Rudy Gobert will remain out for the Utah Jazz, with Hassan Whiteside stepping in to replace him. Whiteside is much worse in terms of defensive rating than Gobert. He averages more blocks per 36 minutes than his French teammate and this tendency to chase blocks often leaves him out of position. With Paul and Booker being excellent at navigating pick and rolls and creating mid-range jumpers for themselves, Whiteside could be forced to step out more than usual. That should give Biyombo opportunities to make himself available for passes under the rim. Back the over on him tonight.

Aaron Gordon over 23.5 points + rebounds + assists (-120)

With the injuries that the Denver Nuggets are dealing with, Aaron Gordon has stepped up as a second option for the team. Looking at his last 5 games in particular he has managed 16 or more points in 4 of those contests. On top of that he has been contributing assists and rebounds too, with at least a combined 10 in 3 of those games.

The Nets have done a great job of limiting opposing centers offensively this month. Jonas Valanciunas, Jusuf Nurkic and Nikola Vucevic have all failed to score more than 14 points against them. They do a great job of denying post up opportunities which should force Nikola Jokic to the perimeter where he may be forced to rely on his playmaking capabilities more. With Gordon being a great cutter to the rim, he should have success attacking the Nets paint on the move. Considering so much of the focus will be on Jokic, Gordon should have rebounding and playmaking chances here too. With at least 24 PRA in 4 of his last 5 games, his form suggests he is more than capable of hitting this once more here.
