Brooklyn Nets ML over Orlando Magic (+215)

This might not be the most popular pick, but I really do feel like the Nets can pull off an upset win over the struggling Magic here. There’s still hope for Brooklyn to make the play-in tournament as they’re 3.5 games back of the Hawks and they own the tie-breaker. We just saw the Nets beat a strong Cavaliers team 120-101, playing their 2nd game of a back-to-back scenario.

Although their road record isn’t anything to brag about, they do have 2 blowout wins over the Magic already this season. Orlando’s offense has completely shut down in their last 2 games scoring just 74 and 97 points against the Knicks and Pacers. In order to beat the Nets you have to score at least 110 these days. With a 7-3 record over the last 10 meetings, it’s quite obvious that this match-up fits the Nets, so I’m backing them to pull the upset here.

Denver Nuggets -4.5 over Miami Heat (-108)

It’s been a one-way street in games between the Nuggets and Heat dating back all the way to the 2020-21 NBA season. Since then, the Nuggets have won all 7 regular season meetings and 4 of the 5 games in the 2023 NBA Finals. The Heat simply cannot handle Nikola Jokic, who is averaging 25.5 points, 13.2 rebounds and 8.3 assists per game in those 11 meetings. These 2 teams met in Denver 2 weeks ago, when Michael Porter Jr. got hot and torched the Heat for 30 points in a 6-point triumph.

Coming into tonight’s game, the Heat have lost 3 in a row, including a 110-108 defeat to the Washington Wizards at home on Sunday. For a team aiming to get back to the NBA Finals, that was just an embarrassing look. There are also injury concerns for Erik Spoelstra here as Kevin Love, Tyler Herro and Josh Richardson are all out, while Jimmy Butler is probable with an illness. Denver is on a 6-game road win streak in Miami and they’ve covered the spread in all 6 of those games as well. Until that trend is reversed, I’m sticking with the defending champs here.

Los Angeles Lakers -1 over Sacramento Kings (-112)

For some odd reason, the Lakers just haven’t been able to figure out the Kings this season, as they’ve lost all 3 meetings by 5, 15 and 10 points. Tonight, they’ll look to avoid the regular-season sweep as they take on a Sacramento team that’s on the backend of a back-to-back scenario. LA comes into the game as 1.5-point favorites, but that’s more due to the way they’ve been playing lately, and not because the Kings could be a bit tired here.

Over the past 7 days, the Lakers have taken down two of the best teams in the West (Timberwolves and Thunder) plus the 2nd-best team in the East (Bucks). They are 5-2 in their last 7 outings, with both LeBron James and Anthony Davis being healthy and putting up solid numbers. Sacramento has had trouble covering at home lately, going just 1-5 ATS in their last 6 at the Golden 1 Center. They’re also just .500 in games played with no rest, so I think it’s time the Lakers finally take them down.
