Los Angeles Lakers -8.5 over Utah Jazz (-114)
The Los Angeles Lakers dominated the Utah Jazz by 19 points at home in their last outing and should be well-positioned to do so again tonight on the road. The visitors have been elite over the last 10 games, ranking 2nd in net offensive and defensive rating. Introducing Luka Doncic into this lineup makes them a much scarier proposition. The Jazz should not put up much resistance tonight. They have just 2 wins over their last 10 games and are tied for the fewest home victories in the league this season.
Over the last 10 the Jazz also have a points differential of -10.4 points. The Lakers rank on the other end of the spectrum with a points differential of 13.5. With Doncic, Austin Reaves and LeBron James all able to create looks for each other, its hard to see the Lakers offense drop off tonight. If they get anywhere close to the 132 points they put up against the Jazz the last time out, they should be able to cover.
Detroit Pistons -6.5 over Chicago Bulls (-110)
The Detroit Pistons dominated Chicago on the Bulls’ own home court last night, picking up a 40-point win after leading by 42 at halftime. And it seems that the sportsbooks have taken the Bulls’ second-half performance far too much into account, as the Pistons are favored by just 6 points in the rematch. Each side has had issues on the second night of back-to-backs this season, both holding a 2-7 record. However, the Pistons have a point differential that is just -3 in those games, while the Bulls are at -9. There were no new injury concerns last night; both teams go into this one relatively healthy, with Lonzo Ball being the one big miss for the Bulls.
The Bulls are ranked 9th league-wide this season in three-point percentage. However, over the last 7 games that they played without Zach LaVine, they have dropped to 17th in the league. That decline was evident last night when they made just 10 of their 47 three-point attempts. Considering they already give up the NBA’s most points in the paint per game this season, not being able to make up for it with an efficient perimeter attack at the other end means more blowout losses are probably on the way for Chicago. They have gotten their 2025 first-round draft pick back and may tank the rest of the season. The Pistons starters showed last night that they are a step above, and there is no reason to think there will be a different outcome.
San Antonio Spurs vs Boston Celtics Over 233 (-110)
The San Antonio Spurs have ranked 4th in pace over the last 10 games while also being just 22nd in defensive rating. It has been one of the factors in helping 4 of their last 5 games reach the 233-point mark. They do have good rim protection in Victor Wembanyama but their opponents tonight are perfectly set to counter this. The Boston Celtics lead the league in three-point makes per game over that stretch.
With Kristaps Porzingis spacing the floor, Wembanyama should be forced away from the paint. That should give the likes of Jayson Tatum plenty of space to attack the rim. The pace set by the Spurs will give both teams additional possessions here. Over the last 10 games, the teams are 6th and 7th in the league in true shooting percentage, respectively. Look for them to convert the extra possessions created here by the tempo and for the Over to hit.
