LA Lakers -6 over Charlotte Hornets (-110)
The Lakers are currently enjoying a 3-game win streak after a memorable victory at Golden State over the weekend. All 3 of those wins were by 10 or more points, giving them confidence as they embark on this 4-game East Coast portion of their road trip. Anthony Davis is putting up serious numbers, as he just posted 36 points and 13 rebounds. Expect him to go to work here against the inexperienced front line of the Hornets.
This matchup has been a one-sided affair for quite some time now, with LA winning 9 of the last 11 meetings while also covering the spread in all of those victories. In their last 11 trips to Charlotte, the Lakers have failed to cover only once. With just 12 wins in 42 games this year, the Hornets aren’t exactly a team the Lakers should fear. LaMelo Ball has been in and out of the lineup due to injury and he is effectively the only problem the Lakers should face in this game. Back LeBron James and company to get the job done here and start our NBA parlay picks on the right foot.

Houston Rockets +6.5 over Boston Celtics (-112)
I was tempted to back the Rockets on the money line here, which just goes to show how unreliable the Boston Celtics have been recently. They are just 6-14 ATS in their last 20 home games, while overall they’ve won just 4 of their last 9. Coming back home from a long West Coast road trip might result in a slower start, which is exactly what the Rockets are counting on. Houston just beat the best team in the East in back-to-back games, and in Saturday’s win they shot the ball extremely well at 54.8% from the field.
The Rockets have been a reliable bet recently, covering in 6 of 9 games overall and they’ve also won 11 of 15 games against Eastern Conference opponents. Boston has a couple of injury issues here as well with Al Horford and Derrick White both questionable. No Horford on the inside would make life for Alperen Sengun a lot easier, and the talented center had a strong double-double in his last visit to TD Garden. Although the experience is on the Celtics’ side here, I’m comfortable backing a Rockets team that is 8-2 SU over their last 10 games.

Memphis Grizzlies ML over New York Knicks (+138)
It’s not often you’ll get the Grizzlies at plus-money odds to win a game these days, but that’s exactly the case on Monday night as they head into Madison Square Garden to take on the New York Knicks. Memphis has won 6 games in a row and they are one of the most in-form teams in the league right now on the offensive end, scoring 122.5 points per 100 possessions. That type of fast-pace scoring might be too much for the Knicks to handle here, as we’ve seen them struggle a bit against teams from the Southwest Division, covering the spread only twice in 10 games.
On top of that, Josh Hart might be forced to sit this one out for New York due to right knee soreness, which would be a big blow for the Knicks as he is their do-it-all point guard. In head-to-head meetings, the Grizzlies have won 4 of the last 6. New York did win the 2 meetings last year, but Memphis was decimated with injuries to basically all of their star players. I’m impressed with what I’m seeing from the Grizzlies right now as the 2nd-best team in the Western Conference, and I’ll happily take them to win as underdogs here to bring home our NBA parlay.
