The Philadelphia Phillies have been scorching-hot offensively against right-handed pitching lately. In the last 30 days, they rank 2nd in wOBA, 1st in OPS, 1st in SLG, 3rd in ISO and have a wRC+ of 123. Overall this offense has scored 4 or more runs in 17 of their last 23 games, averaging 5.39 runs per game during that span. Their lineup is loaded from top to bottom with power threats and competitive at-bats. I find this Phillies offense to be one of the more well-rounded offenses in baseball and love backing them when given an opportune spot.

Their opponent today will be Marlins pitcher Pablo Lopez. Lopez had a tremendous beginning to the season but has fallen off sharply since. His last outing lasted only 3.2 innings as he allowed 10 hits and 8 earned runs to the Mets. At home this season, Lopez sees his ERA jump to 5.01 with a .253 OBA and 1.34 WHIP. He ranks in just the 18th percentile in barrel rate and 41st percentile in xERA this season. Behind Lopez is a very shaky Marlins bullpen that ranks 30th in WHIP and 22nd in xFIP during the last month. They are also relatively taxed, having pitched often in the last week.

The combination of that bullpen and Lopez’s recent decline in play has resulted in their opposition scoring 4 or more runs in 17 of the last 21 games started by Lopez. They have allowed an average of 5.28 runs per game in those starts.  I love this spot for the Phillies offense at this number.
