The Cleveland Guardians will look to finish off their series with the Chicago White Sox with another win on Wednesday, and today’s best MLB player prop bet focuses on Guardians pitcher Matthew Boyd, who has been exceptional so far in a Cleveland uniform. Let’s dive in, while you can also find out our MLB picks for each of today’s big matchups.

Matthew Boyd (CLE) to record the win (+120)

Odds available at DraftKings Sportsbook and Caesars Sportsbook at time of publishing. Playable to +105 odds.

Matthew Boyd has made a very strong start to his time with the Cleveland Guardians, performing above expectation level through his first 5 starts with the club. In those 5 outings, the southpaw hurler has allowed exactly 1 earned run 4 times, and his worst start of the bunch resulted in 3 earned runs allowed. His last 3 starts have all spanned 6 complete innings, earning the decision in all 3 outings with a win recorded in 2 of them. Boyd has been able to pitch deep into the game thanks to his impressive command of the strike zone and overall efficiency with his pitch selection. He performed exceptionally well in his last start with 6 innings of 1-run ball and a win against a very tough Dodgers lineup. Now Boyd faces a far easier matchup on paper against a White Sox team that has been helpless all season long.

Chicago is 6-42 since the all-star break with 34 of those losses coming by more than 1 run. Their lack of competitiveness has led to several games getting out of hand, and we could see that play out for a 3rd time in this series today. Not only do the Guardians have a starting pitching advantage over Davis Martin and the White Sox, but their bullpen edge is even larger, which is crucial for fending off a comeback. Martin has been one of the White Sox’s more reliable starting options of late, but that isn’t saying much for a team with this type of disaster season. Cleveland has not been tearing the cover off of the ball against right-handed pitching but should still be able to contribute enough early runs to give Boyd and their bullpen a lead they can work with. With Cleveland in the thick of a playoff battle, I expect all hands on deck for a game they are more than likely to win. Look for a strong effort from Boyd as I’m going for him to record his 3rd win within his first 6 starts as my best MLB player prop bet today.
