The first two games of the ALDS series did not disappoint. Can the Orioles split the series and travel to Texas at 1-1? Can Minnesota steal a game in Houston?

We’re 3-0 on MLB player props in the playoffs so far and y ou can read our MLB predictions for today here, but now let’s dive into the best MLB player prop bets for Sunday, October 8.

Jordan Montgomery, TEX, Under 4.5 strikeouts (-104)

Odds available at FanDuel Sportsbook at time of publishing.

Jordan Montgomery dealt in Game 1 of the Rangers’ wild-card series against the Tampa Bay Rays. He threw 7 innings of shutout baseball with 5 strikeouts. All 7 innings were needed for him to get to 5 Ks, though. He registered his 5th K on the final batter he saw for his 93rd pitch of the game. Today, at 4:07 E.T., Montgomery’s biggest test of all will come against the Baltimore Orioles.

I was Montgomery’s biggest fan during the regular season. The Rangers finding an ace at the deadline for an outfielder who was later put on waivers is one of the biggest fleeces we’ve seen in recent memory. Can he perform during the most significant career start with all the pressure on the Orioles? I’ll side with the young bats for Baltimore, especially from a strikeout perspective.

Montgomery’s outs line is set at 14.5 with vig on the over. If he shows any sign of letting up, the Rangers will pull him in a hurry, especially with a day off tomorrow. Chances cannot be taken in a best-of-5 series. Fellow LHP Andrew Heaney, who has a much better K rate than Montgomery, threw just 1 strikeout in 3.2 innings. He threw only 56 pitches, which was expected, and he’s no ace, but I like what I saw from the Orioles perspective. Head to FanDuel for the best line at -104, while the rest of the market is in the -125 range.
