Monday’s MLB playoff action has both NLDS series on deck with both road teams looking to steal another game and head home with 2-0 leads. The Pickswise MLB player props team has been on fire so far during the postseason. We’re on a 4-0 run that stretches back to 7-1 when the regular season was still taking place. Simply put, we’re on fire right now and I have my best MLB player prop bet of the day as I look to make it 8-1. You can read our MLB predictions for today’s matchups, but for now, let’s dive into the best MLB player prop bets for Monday, October 9.
Zack Wheeler, PHI, Under 1.5 walks (-119)
Odds available at Caesars Sportsbook at time of publishing.
Zack Wheeler may be the top guy you want in this situation in all of baseball. His postseason pedigree is as impressive as can be. In 7 career playoff starts, Wheeler has a 2.55 ERA and has allowed 2 or fewer earned runs in 5 of those starts. From a command standpoint, Wheeler has walked fewer than 2 batters in a game in 6 of 7. That’s where we’re going to back him today; on the road with a chance to go home with a 2-0 series lead.
Wheeler is no stranger to this Atlanta Braves team. Ronald Acuna Jr, Austin Riley, Matt Olson and Ozzie Albies have a combined 7 career walks in 142 at-bats. Add in Marcell Ozuna, who has walked in just 2 of 45 at-bats against Wheeler. Wheeler is having his best season from a BB% standpoint. His 5.0 BB% ranks in the top 7% of the league, and he has stayed under this line in 24 of 33 starts in the regular season. With days off between games, his leash will be shorter than we’ve seen in the past, especially against one of the best offenses in recent memory. I like Wheeler to keep the walks to a minimum against this Braves lineup.
