Pickswise was nice enough to give me the opportunity to write up my plays for you all. For those of you who don’t know me, they refer to me as JutPicks on Twitter. I post all my plays with brief write-ups every day. Now I get to write even more with no character limit!
I pride myself on being as transparent as they come. My MLB record from last season and this season is listed in my bio. In the regular season, I recorded 258 wins and 166 losses for a gain of +36.8 units. Without further ado, let’s dive into my favorite play for Game 1 of the World Series!

The Philadelphia Phillies have arrived. They’ve shocked the baseball world as the 6 seed in the National League. They fought off the St. Louis Cardinals in the Wild Card series in 2 games and then took care of the 100+ win Atlanta Braves in 4 games. In the NLCS, the San Diego Padres were not match for the Fightin’ Phillies. Bryce Harper sent the Padres home with a 2-run home run in the bottom of the 8th inning in Game 5. Tonight, they’ll make their first World Series appearances since 2008 and will have Aaron Nola on the mound agaisnt future AL CY Young award Winner Justin Verlander.
Verlander is no stranger to the bright lights. He took care of the New York Yankees with a 6 inning performance of 1 run baseball in the ALCS. This Phillies lineup is much deadlier than the Yankees. The Phillies are hitting .229 this postseason and have crushed 16 home runs during their playoff run.
Verlander has been torn to shreds in his 7 appearances in the World Series. He is 0-6 with an ERA of 5.68 and 9 home runs allowed. I expect the Phillies bats to stay hot and for their improbable run to continue.
