Pickswise was nice enough to give me the opportunity to write up my plays for you all. For those of you who don’t know me, they refer to me as JutPicks on Twitter. I post all my plays with brief write-ups every day. Now I get to write even more with no character limit!

I pride myself on being as transparent as they come. My MLB record from last season and this season is listed in my bio. In the regular season, I recorded 249 wins and 158 losses for a gain of +38.75 units. Without further ado, let’s dive into my favorite play for day 2 of the playoffs.

Blake Snell (SDP) under 6.5 Ks (-136)

The New York Mets look to avoid elimination after they fell in Game 1 to the San Diego Padres 7-1. Max Scherzer of all people fell apart. He gave up 7 earned runs in 4.2 innings pitched. In Game 2, Blake Snell will get the ball for the Padres and he has had his fair share of struggles against the Mets this season. In 2 starts against the Mets in 2022, Snell pitched 13.0 innings, allowed 12 hits, 3 runs and issued 6 walks. Snell failed to hit his strikeout prop in either of those games. The last left-handed starter to record at least seven strikeouts against the Mets was Andrew Heaney of the Los Angeles Dodgers in late August. Every at-bat is crucial in the playoffs, especially in a win-or-go-home scenario. Hitters tend to choke up in pitcher friendly counts and look to put the ball in play.

Teammate Yu Darvish was able to give the Padres 7.0strong innings and leave the bullpen fully rested other than Luis Garcia. I expect Padres manager Bob Melvin to have a short leash with Snell, as the Mets bats can heat up at any time. The Mets have the 3rd-highest batting average against left-handed pitching in the last month and struck out at the 3rd-lowest rate.

Snell is under this line in 5 of 9 road starts and his outs prop is set at 15.5.
