Pickswise was nice enough to give me the opportunity to write up my plays for you all. For those of you who don’t know me, they refer to me as JutPicks on Twitter. I post all my plays with brief write-ups every day. Now I get to write even more with no character limit!
I pride myself on being as transparent as they come. My MLB record from last season and this season is listed in my bio. In the regular season, I recorded 256 wins and 166 losses for a gain of +34.8 units. Without further ado, let’s dive into my favorite play for Game 5 of the NLCS!

This should not be a surprise that we’re going right back to last year’s National League MVP. Harper is on a 9-game postseason hitting streak and is the league’s hottest hitter. Harper is looking to cement his legacy and is 1 win away from leading the Philadelphia Phillies to a National League pennant.
Harper has reached base in all 10 playoff games during their postseason run. That includes 8 runs batted in and 10 extra-base hits, which is tied for a Phillies postseason record. He’ll look to break that in Game 5 and potentially in the World Series if he’s able to lead the Phillies there. Harper and the Phillies will be opposed by San Diego Padres ace Yu Darvish. Darvish pitched well in Game 1 but had no run support. He allowed 2 solo home runs with one being from Harper. Darvish has given up 6 home runs this postseason and will have a long leash in this elimination game after a bullpen outing in Game 4.
Harper took Darvish deep in the regular season and some would think Darvish would be wary of giving Harper anything good to hit. This prop allows him to score runs, which he leads all of baseball in this postseason with 8. In Game 4, 1-3 hitters Kyle Schwarber, Rhys Hoskins, and J.T. Realmuto combined to go 5 for 10. All 3 hitters have had success against Darvish in the past and 5-hole hitter Nick Castellanos is a career 4 for 19 of him.
This potent Phillies lineup gives Harper tons of opportunities to hit guys in or score runs himself. He has gone over this line in 7 of 10 games in this postseason and has his sights set on his first World Series appearance.
