Kyle Schwarber loves hitting in October. The former first-round pick has posted a solid .290 batting average in 27 postseason games. Additionally, he has belted 7 home runs to go along with a .609 slugging percentage in his postseason career. Schwarber seems to find another gear in October, and his latest clutch postseason moment came in the wild card game against the Yankees. Schwarber launched a solo homer off Gerrit Cole, and now he is back hitting in his home ballpark.
The Boston offense erupted for 14 runs on 20 hits in Game 2, but Schwarber was surprisingly not a big contributor. He went 0-for-4 with 3 strikeouts, a walk and a run scored. Now that he is back at home, look for Schwarber to bounce back and play a bigger part in today’s contest. Schwarber is hitting a solid .316 with a .570 slugging percentage and 1.024 OPS in his career at Fenway Park. I like his chances of making things happen today.
