Pickswise was nice enough to give me the opportunity to write my plays up for you all. For those of you who don’t know me, they refer to me as JutPicks on Twitter. I post all my plays with brief writeups every day. Now I get to write even more with no character limit!
I pride myself on being as transparent as they come. My MLB record from last season and this season is listed in my bio. On the year, I’ve recorded 75 wins and 60 losses for a gain of +10.2 units. Without further ado, let’s dive into my favorite play for Friday.
Luis Castillo (CIN) over 2.5 earned runs (+100)

We have a battle between NL Central foes. The Cincinnati Reds travel to St Louis to take on the Cardinals. Both teams are currently riding losing streaks of at least 2 games.
The prop I’m targeting is Luis Castillo over 2.5 earned runs. Castillo is rocking a 3.55 ERA and is over this line in half of his starts. The Cardinals sit at the top half of the league in most major hitting categories against right-handed pitching. They’re scored at least 3 runs on right-handed starters in 7 of their last games including 4 of their last 5.
Cardinals hitters have a ton of history versus Castillo. Paul Goldschmidt, Nolan Arenado, Tyler O’Neil, and Tommy Edman all have at least 25 plate appearances versus the hard-throwing righty. Castillo faced off against the Cardinals 6 times last season and let up at least 3 runs in 5 of those games. I give the advantage to the hitters in this situation.
