Pickswise was nice enough to give me the opportunity to write my plays up for you all. For those of you who don’t know me, they refer to me as JutPicks on Twitter. I post all my plays with brief writeups every day. Now I get to write even more with no character limit!

I pride myself on being as transparent as they come. My MLB record from last season and this season is listed in my bio. On the year, I’ve recorded 63 wins and 50 losses for a gain of +7.3units. Without further ado, let’s dive into my favorite plays for Wednesday.

Justin Verlander (HOU) to record a win (-113)

Line available at Caesers Sportsbook at time of publishing.

Our guy is back on the mound! Verlander was torched last start right out of the gate. Unfortunately for us, we backed his under 1.5 earned runs and it lost 3 batters in after rookie phenom Julio Rodriguez took him yard. Today, he faces off against one of the worst teams against right-handed pitching, the Oakland Athletics.

I tend not to back the pitcher plus their team but all of Verlander’s props are extremely sharp. His earned-run prop is set at 1.5 again and his hits prop is at 4.5. Verlander should have no problem dealing against the A’s who hit below .200 against right-handed pitching in the month of May. Verlander has yet to face some of these young Athletics hitters. I’ll give the advantage to the future hall-of-famer.

Backing the Astros offense, especially against a lefty, is a little uncomfortable. They’ve had their struggles but I have them breaking through against 28-year-old Cole Irvin. Since Irvin arrived in Oakland from Philadelphia, he has faced off against division rival the Houston Astros 4 times. Irvin has allowed at least 4 runs in all 4 starts and has struggled against the core of the Astros hitters.

I expect Verlander to go at least 6 innings today so we have a little wiggle room for the Astros offense to heat up. Once the Astros get a lead, expect Verlander to hit a switch and deal. Verlander is tied for the league lead in wins at 6 and will continue his AL CY Young Award campaign today!

Kyle Bradish (BAL) over 2.5 earned runs (-105)

Line available at DraftKings Sportsbook at time of publishing.

The 25-year-old rookie is off to a rough start to his career. His ERA is up to 7.3 and he’s allowed 24 runs through 28 innings pitched. Personally, I backed the Red Sox offense against Bradish in his last start and he was hit hard for 6 runs in less than 2 innings. His opponent at home tonight, the Seattle Mariners, are fresh off a series against the high-powered Houston Astros where they scored 13 runs through 3 games against right-handed starters Justin Verlander, Jose Urquidy and Luis Garcia.

The Orioles started right-handed bullpen arm Bryan Baker last night and he only lasted 1.1 inning and allowed 3 runs. The top of the order for the Mariners that consist of Jesse Winker, Ty France, Julio Rodriguez, and J.P. Crawford are as deadly as they come. They’re aggressive on the basepath and can pour on runs early.

Bradish has allowed over 3 runs in 4 of his 1st 6 starts in the major leagues and I see that trend continuing tonight.
