Happy Sunday! It’s been a great week of baseball and we have a nice slate of 15 MLB games today, but there is one player prop that I really like.
Before that, be sure to check out our full game previews for tonight’s matchups.
Without further ado, let’s get into it!
Tyler Anderson (LAD) over 5.5 strikeouts (-122)
Line available on FanDuel Sportsbook at time of publishing.
Statistically, the Diamondbacks have been horrendous against lefty pitchers. In 435 at-bats against left-handers, Arizona has the 3rd-worst OPS, 2nd-worst batting average, and the worst on-base percentage in baseball. They also have the 6th most strikeouts to make for a 28.4% strikeout rate when facing a southpaw. Their lefty-dominant lineup has caused them a lot of trouble when facing southpaws, and in their lineup last night there were only two true right-handed hitters. There were also two switch hitters in the lineup, but six of Arizona’s first seven batters went to the plate as left-handed hitters. I do expect some changes to add another righty hitter or two into the lineup, but they can’t take out important lefty hitters like Josh Rojas, Alek Thomas, or Pavin Smith.
Tyler Anderson has been outstanding away from Dodger Stadium. In 21.2 innings, the lefty has a 2.08 ERA with a 0.88 WHIP and — more importantly — a 27.4 percent strikeout rate. Anderson faced the Diamondbacks two starts ago in L.A. and threw a gem as he allowed 2 runs on 7 hits with 7 strikeouts in 7.0 innings. He has recorded at least 5 strikeouts in all 4 of his most recent outings, and when he is on the road he averages 6.33 strikeouts.
Expect Anderson to continue his success against the Diamondbacks and take his over 5.5 strikeouts.
