Happy Thursday! We still have a long week of baseball ahead of us and we have a nice slate of 11 MLB games today, but there’s one player prop that I really like.
Before that, be sure to check out our full game previews for tonight’s matchups.
Without further ado, let’s get into it!
Kyle Wright (ATL) over 5.5 strikeouts (+112)
Line available on FanDuel Sportsbook at time of publishing.
Kyle Wright has recorded at least 6 strikeouts in 4 of his 5 starts at home, but can you guess the only time I bet his over? I’ve forgiven the up-and-coming ace as I’m back on his over tonight against the Phillies. Wright has been fantastic this season, ranking above average in almost every pitching category on Baseball Savant. His 29.5% strikeout rate puts him in the 84th percentile and his nasty curveball is a primary reason he ranks in the 74th percentile for whiff rate. Wright’s 5-pitch arsenal is highlighted by his curveball that he throws 32.7% of the time and hitters have a .203 batting average with a 38.4% whiff rate against that pitch.
At home, Wright has been dominant. He has a 3-0 record with a 2.40 ERA and has allowed just 19 hits in 30 innings. More importantly, his strikeout rate climbs to 31.4%. Wright will face a Phillies offense that has the 4th-most strikeouts in the last 7 days and the 6th-most strikeouts in the last 15 days. Philadelphia boasts a righty-dominant lineup with 4 of their usual first 5 hitters being right-handed, and this could cause problems against Wright’s curveball, which has 11.2 inches of horizontal break.
Wright has surpassed this total in 6 of his 8 starts this season, so anticipating him to record 6 strikeouts is not a tough ask. Back the young right-hander to showcase his curveball frequently today and record at least 6 strikeouts against the Phillies.
