Wednesday was an exciting day on the diamond. The Mets hit yet another walk-off against the Orioles, the Dodgers finally got to Logan Gilbert and the Cardinals ended the game on a walk-off grand slam by Nolan Arenado. Today doesn’t have as much action since several teams are enjoying an off-day, but I was still able to find my best MLB player prop bet. Let’s dive in, but make sure you also read our MLB picks for Thursday, August 22.

Cristopher Sanchez (PHI) over 2.5 earned runs allowed (+100)

Available at DraftKings Sportsbook at time of publishing

Cristopher Sanchez is coming off his second career complete game. The Philadelphia lefty was phenomenal last week against the Nationals, as he allowed just 1 run, 2 hits and zero walks in 9.0 innings. It was his second complete game of the season with his first coming at the end of June against the Marlins. So, what do these complete games have in common? Well, besides being against below-average teams in the NL East, both starts were at home. That shouldn’t be surprising at all once you take a peek at Sanchez’s home and away splits. At home, Sanchez is one of the best pitchers in the game considering he is 7-3 with 2.18 ERA and 0.94 WHIP in 13 starts. He’s held hitters to a stunning .217 batting average and .511 OPS during those starts.

However, Sanchez is a completely different pitcher on the road. He owns a 2-5 record, a 5.53 ERA and a 1.77 WHIP in 11 starts away from Philadelphia. Plus, he’s allowing a .322 batting average and .825 OPS in those 11 outings. And looking back at his recent starts, he has allowed 3 or more earned runs in 3 of his last 5 road outings. The Atlanta offense has been quiet in this series thus far, but this is a perfect “get right” spot against a lefty pitcher that struggles on the road. At plus odds, this bet has plenty of value.
