14 games are on the horizon for MLB Friday starting at 2:20 pm ET at Wrigley Field. Let’s dive into our best MLB player prop bets for Friday, August 16, as I look to build on my 41-24 record this season. Also don’t forget you can find out our experts’ MLB picks for today’s matchups.

Logan Gilbert (SEA) Under 5.5 Hits Allowed (-125)

Line available at DraftKings Sportsbook at time of publishing.

Logan Gilbert has quietly been one of the most impressive pitchers in baseball this season and the metrics back that up. He ranks in the 80th percentile in xERA, 84th in whiff%, and 94th in BB%. With backing a hits allowed prop we’re hoping opposing batters eat up the pitch count with walks, but Gilbert can still deliver on this line while holding off Pirates runners via a free pass.

Gilbert has been masterful since the All-Star Break. In four starts, he’s surrendered 18 hits – seven of them coming in one game and has stayed under this prop in three of four. He’s back on the road tonight where he’s allowed fewer than six hits in nine of 12 starts.

Backing a pitcher with a low walk rate and destined for 7+ innings can be daunting when attacking a hits allowed prop, but Gilbert has been that good and the Pirates have been that bad against RHP since the break. They rank in the bottom half of the league in batting average, while ranking in the bottom 10 in hardhit%.

Gavin Lux (LAD) Over 1.5 Hits+Runs+RBIs (-115)

Line available at Bet365 at time of publishing.

Dodgers props have been a favorite of mine over the last week with the return of Mookie Betts and soft matchups vs opposing pitchers. I’m keying in on Gavin Lux – the five-hole hitter hitting behind a lethal 1-4 that includes Shohei Ohtani, Mookie Betts, Freddie Freeman, and Teoscar Hernandez.

Lux has done his fair share of hitting since the All-Star Break. Against RHP, which he’ll see tonight most of the game in starting pitcher Miles Mikolas, Lux is hitting .394 with 17 RBI’s – both top 10 during that span.

Mikolas will have his hands full on Friday Night at home. The Dodgers team total is set at 4.5 with plenty of vig on the over. Meanwhile, the top four hitters for the Dodgers hits/runs/rbi prop is set at 2.5. Lux should have plenty of opportunities to drive in runs, which he has capitalized on as of late, and deliver on this player prop bet for the 14th time in his last 21 games.
