It’s a slower day in MLB today with only 7 games happening, but there’s plenty of day baseball to enjoy. In fact, 4 of the games take place before 6:00 pm ET. Even with a limited slate, I found my 2 best MLB player prop bets that you should lock in before the action kicks off, including one at +140 odds that is on a 4-0 run! Let’s dive in, while you can also find out all of our MLB picks for today’s action.
Zack Wheeler (PHI) to record the win (-130)
Odds available at DraftKings Sportsbook at time of publishing
The Phillies are the biggest favorite on the board tonight. At DraftKings, you can get their money line price for an egregious -278. That’s not a price I’m willing to pay, so I pivoted to a different market. Zack Wheeler will get the nod for Philadelphia, which is the primary reason for why the Phillies are such heavy favorites, and the price for him to record the win is a reasonable -130.
That looks like an even better price when considering DraftKings has Philadelphia’s first 5 innings money line price set at -315. That means oddsmakers are pretty confident that the Phillies will be winning entering the second half of the game, and all Wheeler needs to do to record a win is pitch at least 5 innings and leave the game with the Phillies winning and not give up the lead. I’m expecting the Philadelphia offense to jump on Mitchell Parker early and not look back since they rank 5th in OPS and 6th in wRC+ against left-handed pitching since June 1.

Bailey Ober (MIN) to record the win (+140)
Odds available at DraftKings Sportsbook at time of publishing
Bailey Ober has been phenomenal this season. He was overshadowed by Pablo Lopez and Joe Ryan last season, but with both of those starters having a down year, it’s been Ober’s time to shine. He posted a 3.19 ERA in June, a 2.00 ERA in July and currently has a 1.38 ERA in 2 starts this month. And more recently, he’s 4-0 with a 1.29 ERA and 0.57 WHIP in 4 starts since the all-star break. He’s held hitters to a stunning 0.097 batting average with a 31% strikeout rate in those 4 outings.
Tonight, he will take on a Rangers offense that just had a very grueling series with the Red Sox which exhausted their bullpen. Plus, Texas has the 6th-lowest batting average since the trade deadline. I’m not too worried about Ober pitching at least 5 innings, so it’s going to come down to the Minnesota lineup giving him some run support. Since they rank 12th in OPS and 11th in wRC+ against southpaw pitchers since June 1, I’m fading Cody Bradford. This is too good of a price to pass up, especially when you consider that this prop has cashed in each of Ober’s last 4 games.
