After what was a truly eventful 4th of July slate of MLB games, we’re back today with another full 15-game slate, and I am looking to build on my HUGE 14-3 run with my best MLB player prop bets! You can find out our experts’ MLB picks for each of today’s matchups, but for now, let’s dive into my best MLB player prop bets for Friday, July 5th.

San Diego Padres Team Total Over 3.5 (-135)

Line available at DraftKings Sportsbook at time of publishing.

We’re starting our action with West Coast baseball as the San Diego Padres host the Arizona Diamondbacks and RHP Slade Cecconi. Cecconi may be in for a rough outing. Tonight will be the third time the Padres lineup will face off against him this season and I’m a big proponent of fading pitchers the second and third time around against an offense – especially a lethal one in the Padres, who are hitting over .300 against RHP at home over the last month. Cecconi doesn’t have the biggest leash, and without an outs line posted, we may only get him 2 times around the order. Nonetheless, Cecconi’s xERA and xBA rank in the league’s bottom half, while FanDuel and BetMGM have this same line priced at -155.

Reese Olson (DET) Under 2.5 earned runs (-125)

Line available at DraftKings Sportsbook at time of publishing.

It’s not always a bright idea backing starting pitchers at Great American Ball Park, but Reese Olson has been on another level this season. After 3 starts where Olson let up 5, 8, and 4 runs in June, Olson bounced back with 3 straight starts of allowing fewer than three runs. The Reds’ offense hasn’t been as lethal at first glance. Against right-handed pitching at home during the last 2 weeks, they rank right in the middle of baseball in batting average and bottom 10 in on-base percentage. Look for Olson to stay under this line for the 13th time in 17 games and improve on his 3.43 xERA.

Corey Seager (TEX) Over 1.5 Hits+Runs+RBIs (-125)

Line available at BetMGM Sportsbook at time of publishing

This line caught me off guard when I first looked at it. At just -125, a more than playable price than it usually is for Seager, it’s a prop I’m more than comfortable backing for a full unit. Seager will be matched against RHP Shane Baz, who is making his first start in the majors since 2022. Baz looked terrific in Triple-A, but Seager is hitting RHP at a .333 clip in the last 2 weeks. He’s eclipsed this line in 9 of his last 10 games while rocking a 9-game hitting streak.
