Be cautious when evaluating this loaded MLB slate on Friday night — the weather on the East Coast will look to cause plenty of problems. Nonetheless, I’m here to provide my best MLB player prop bets and build on my personal 18-3 run. You can also find out our experts’ MLB picks for each of today’s matchups, but for now, let’s dive into my best MLB player prop bets for Friday, July 12.

Ranger Suarez (PHI) Under 5.5 Hits Allowed (-148)

I’ll be honest, I was caught off guard when I saw how well the Oakland Athletics have been against LHP recently. They rank in the top 5 in batting average over the last month and have smashed quality pitchers during that stretch, including All-Stars Chris Sale and Tyler Anderson. But as we spoke above, the weather will be a major concern tonight in Philadelphia. The Phillies are unlikely to trot out Ranger Suarez after a rain delay before the all-star break. They also have all their long relievers to go tonight after not using them in their previous series against the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Putting the weather aside, I still expect Suarez to have a quality outing at home. This Athletics lineup has yet to see Suarez in their careers, which bodes well for the All-Star. After getting roughed up the last few starts, which has taken his name out of the NL CY Young race, this is a great opportunity for Suarez to head into the second half of the season with confidence.

Atlanta Braves Team Total Over 4.5 Runs (+108)

Line available at FanDuel Sportsbook at time of publishing.

Good luck tonight Randy Vasquez — you’re going to need it. The Padres pitcher’s advanced metrics read as poor as any starting pitcher in the league — literally. His xERA of 6.32 ranks in the 2nd percentile, while his xBA of .326 ranks 1st. Vasquez will be tested by the struggling Atlanta Braves, who are coming off being shutout by RHP Brandon Pfaadt. But Pfaadt and Vasquez are as far apart as ever.

The Braves have a massive edge tonight against Vasquez — it’ll be the second time they’ll see the RHP this season. In the first meeting, it was all Atlanta. They registered 10 hits in 6 innings while crossing the plate 3 times. On the road tonight, where the Braves will get all 9 innings to bat, I’ll gladly back them at plus-money odds to score at least 5 runs against a pitcher they mashed just a few months ago.
