The knock on Senga in his first handful of starts of his big league career has been his control. He ranks in the 8th percentile in BB% and has walked at least 4 batters in 3 straight games. But the strikeouts are still there. He has a 27% K rate and now faces a Rockies team that strikes out at the 7th-highest rate among right-handed batters away from home. Senga fanned 7 Washington National batters in his last start in just 5.0 innings of work. That’s a tall task in itself, with the Nationals 19.4% K rate against RHP. Look for Senga to command the zone against a Colorado club that sees the 6th-fewest pitches per at-bat.
The Rockies are countering with Antonio Senzatela, who is making his 1st start of the year. Last season his 5.24 xERA was near the bottom of the league. This is a perfect spot for the Mets’ talented lineup to get off to a fast start.

Freeman is fresh off a 3-game set against the reigning NL champion Philadelphia Phillies in which he had 6 hits — 3 of which were doubles.
