The Los Angeles Dodgers could use a solid outing from Bobby Miller tonight. The #2 prospect for the Dodgers was phenomenal in his first start of his career against the Atlanta Braves last week. He threw 5 innings of 1-run baseball and struck out 5. Tonight, he makes his home debut against the 23-30 Washington Nationals.
The Nationals have allowed 7 of the last 10 righties faced to surpass their strikeout line. This will obviously be the first time the Nationals see Miller, and after the Dodgers used 6 pitchers yesterday, Miller should be in line to throw 95+ pitches once again.
Washington is not very strikeout prone. They rank in the bottom 5 in all of baseball in K rate to right-handed pitching. Books are giving us a fair number here, but we’ll gladly back the hard-throwing righty.

The increased pitch count in Anthony DeSclafani’s last 3 starts gives MLB prop bettors confidence that he’ll strike out at least 5 batters today. The Giants failed to sweep the Milwaukee Brewers after starting pitcher Alex Wood allowed 7 runs in 4 innings yesterday. Tonight, they’re back at home behind DeSclafani where he sees his strikeout numbers rise. He’s striking out .92 batters per inning. Most major books have his outs line set at 17.5 with heavy vig.
DeSclafani gets to battle the Pittsburgh Pirates who have been struggling. After a memorable April that gave fans hope, they’ve lost 17 of their 23 games this month. With those struggles have come strikeouts, especially against right-handed pitching. Their strikeout rate has risen to 27% to RHP in May, 3rd highest in the MLB. DeSclafani has recorded at least 5 K’s in 6 of 10 starts this season including 4 of 5 at home. Feel confident backing the righty who should get 6+ innings of work for the Giants.
