We have a full slate of MLB action all day long with first pitch coming at 2:10 E.T. The Philadelphia Phillies vs New York Yankees headline the interleague matchup while the St. Louis Cardinals host the Atlanta Braves that features two of the most complete lineups in baseball. Let’s dive into my favorite player prop bets for today.
Check out all our MLB predictions for the 15-game slate!
Reid Detmers (LAA) Over 5.5 Ks (+100)
Line available at BetMGM Sportsbook at time of publishing.
This is one of the most exciting pitching matchups the game has offered so far this season. Both under the age of 25, Kirby and Detmers showcased flashes of CY Young potential last year. Detmers, in the 11th start of his big-league career, threw a no-hitter by only striking out 2 batters. He racked up strikeouts as the year went on. He punched out at least 6 batters in 10 of his last 15 starts and has taken it a step further during Spring Training. In 20 innings pitched, Detmers has struck out 27 batters and is fresh off throwing 73 pitches. All the Angels starters have been stretched out, and I expect nothing less from Detmers.
Interestingly enough, the Mariners have only had 4 plate appearances against left-handed pitchers through 3 games, the lowest so far in the MLB. But, in those 4 at-bats, they’ve struck out each time. Three of those batters that faced off against the lefty last night Tim Herrin, should be in the lineup to face Detmers.
Detmers and Kirby will have plenty of battles throughout their careers in the AL West. Look for Detmers and Kirby to fan a ton of batters tonight in the lowest projected scoring game on the slate.

Carlos Carrasco (NYM) Over 4.5 Ks (-128)
Line available at FanDuel Sportsbook at time of publishing.
This Brewers lineup is one that right-handed pitchers can feast against and load up the strikeouts. Former teammate Marcus Stroman fanned 8 batters on Opening Day, including 3 in the 1st inning. All 8 batters will be in the lineup today. Carrasco, at 36 years old, has plenty of history against these Brewers batters. In 60 career at-bats against the Brewers starting 9, he has 19 strikeouts including 10 off leadoff hitter Christian Yelich.
Like any veteran, he wasn’t stretched out much during Spring Training but had encouraging starts. On March 17, his last start, he struck out 7 Marlins in 4 innings. Through 95 plate appearances against right-handed pitchers, the Brewers have struck out at the 6th most rate to begin the season. A ton of star power is featured in this lineup but Carrasco should be able to rack up the K’s to kick off the slate.
