Pickswise was nice enough to give me the opportunity to write up my plays for you all. For those of you who don’t know me, they refer to me as JutPicks on Twitter. I post all my plays with brief writeups every day. Now I get to write even more with no character limit!
I pride myself on being as transparent as they come. My MLB record from last season and this season is listed in my bio. On the year, I’ve recorded 163 wins and 122 losses for a gain of +26.83 units. Without further ado, let’s dive into my favorite play for Sunday.

Jose Quintana (STL) under 2.5 earned runs (-110)
Line available at DraftKings Sportsbook at time of publishing.
Jose Quintana has been extremely efficient since being traded from the Pittsburgh Pirates to the St. Louis Cardinals at the trade deadline. In 3 starts with the Cardinals, he has an ERA of 2.65 and has allowed 5 earned runs in 17 innings pitched. Tonight, his opponent will be the Arizona Diamondbacks who present a great matchup for Quintana to deal for his new team.
The Diamondbacks have struggled against left-handed pitching all season long. They rank in the bottom 10 of average, on-base percentage and wRC. In their last 2 games started by a southpaw, which dates back to July, they’ve registered 1 run on 6 hits in 13 innings. In the month of August, they’re hitting a league low .160 in a small sample size of 83 plate appearances against southpaw pitching.
Quintana is under this line in 17 of 23 starts and will look to continue to be a viable starter for the Cardinals. Quintana doesn’t have the longest leash which will benefit us. In 3 starts with the Cardinals, he’s averaging 88 pitches and has yet to pitch into the 7th inning.
