Pickswise was nice enough to give me the opportunity to write up my plays for you all. For those of you who don’t know me, they refer to me as JutPicks on Twitter. I post all my plays with brief writeups every day. Now I get to write even more with no character limit!
I pride myself on being as transparent as they come. My MLB record from last season and this season is listed in my bio. On the year, I’ve recorded 163 wins and 122 losses for a gain of +26.83 units. Without further ado, let’s dive into my favorite play for Wednesday.

Juan Soto (SDP) over 1.5 total bases (+105)
Juan Soto has been just what the Padres traded for. As a member of the Padres, Soto is hitting .319 in 47 plate appearances. The concern when backing Soto and his total bases prop is the walks. He leads the league in bases on balls by a wide margin. He’s been issued a free base 103 times. The next closest player is perennial AL MVP Aaron Judge with 66 walks. But, Soto not only gets a favorable matchup today but a familiar one as well that I feel comfortable backing.
Soto will be facing off against NL East starting pitcher Pablo Lopez. Lopez and Soto had many battles when the two faced off as division foes when Soto was a member of the Washington Nationals. In 29 plate appearances, Soto registered 8 hits which includes 2 home runs and 3 doubles. After a spectacular start to the season, Lopez has cooled off. He’s allowed 6.4 hits allowed in his last 5 starts with an ERA of just below 5 since July.
Lopez will have his hands full with this Padres lineup and it starts with Juan Soto hitting in the 2 hole.
