Pickswise was nice enough to give me the opportunity to write up my plays for you all. For those of you who don’t know me, they refer to me as JutPicks on Twitter. I post all my plays with brief writeups every day. Now I get to write even more with no character limit!
I pride myself on being as transparent as they come. My MLB record from last season and this season is listed in my bio. On the year, I’ve recorded 121 wins and 94 losses for a gain of +19 units. Without further ado, let’s dive into my favorite play for Saturday.
Justin Verlander (HOU) over 18.5 outs (-115)
Line available at BetMGM Sportsbook at time of publishing.
Our love for 39-year old Justin Verlander continues. Verlander is eyeing up another CY Young award and will build his case in his final start before the All-Star game against the woeful Oakland Athletics.
We unfortunately lost this same bet in his last start against the Kansas City Royals. Verlander gave up 7 hits which prolonged his pitch count and pitched only 6 innings. The Athletics don’t possess the same threat to Verlander. The Athletics are dead last in average and on-base percentage against right-handed pitching. Another quality stat that backs us is that the Athletics see the 4th fewest pitches per at bat in baseball.
Verlander is over this line in 9 of 16 starts including a 7 inning performance against the Athletics earlier this season. I have no doubt that he will deal against this A’s lineup.
