Don’t let football take all of your attention tonight. With just a 4-game MLB slate, we still have plenty of value on the board to take advantage of Monday.
Houston Astros RHP Justin Verlander headlines our top MLB player prop bet of the day, but be sure to also check out our MLB predictions for every matchup on the docket.
Justin Verlander (Astros) under 1.5 walks (-110)
Available at DraftKings Sportsbook at time of publishing.
Walk props aren’t for the weak. Especially if you’re watching it live. Every three-ball count makes you want to jump off the couch and scream at the TV, even at the umpire! Hopefully, we will get a friendly ump for Justin Verlander, who has walked just 3 batters in his last 4 games, consisting of 26 innings.
This will be the first time the Seattle Mariners see Verlander, a former Met, this season. The familiarity with them during his CY Young season will help, as he stayed under this line in 5 of 7 starts. This is as important as a matchup it gets this time of the year. The Mariners sit just a half-game out of the wild-card spots and will have ace Luis Castillo on the mound to battle it out with Verlander.
The top of the order is where our concern lies. Leadoff hitter Justin Crawford has a 14.5 BB% while projected #3 hitter Cal Raleigh has a 10 BB% to RHP. Julio Rodriguez’s high strikeout and low walk rate should fare well for us. In the last month against RHP, the Mariners have walked at the 7th-lowest rate. In the most important game of the season, and with Verlander’s outs line juiced to the under of 17.5 outs, I feel confident making this a full unit and a half play.
