No pitcher has been better in baseball than Corbin Burnes in the last month. In 5 starts in July, Burnes has a 1.64 ERA while holding opponents to a .102 batting average. Yes, you read that correctly. He’s allowed a combined 11 hits this month in over 33 innings of work. Burnes will battle the Nationals today and they’re always on the radar to fade. We backed Justin Verlander yesterday and he dominated after allowing a run in the 1st inning.
Burnes has completely flipped a switch and is an auto-play at the moment, especially given his success in cashing this prop. He’s stayed under this number in 13 of 21 games this season and 8 of 11 on the road. The Nationals swing early in the count so don’t be surprised if Burnes goes 7 innings today and makes us sweat, especially with a taxed bullpen. The Nationals are no slouch against RHP this season as they rank in the top half of the league in batting average and K%. They can give good pitchers fits but I trust Burnes to continue to be lights out against the Nationals, who are seeing Burnes for the first time.
