Before his last two starts, Tony Gonsolin was pitching near the top of the MLB. His ERA was as low as 1.93 and he was yet to allow a team to register six hits in a start. That streak broke against the Dodgers division rival San Francisco Giants recently.
The numbers are a tad skewed for Gonslin this season. He made his first start of the season near the end of April and was held to below 90 pitches in his first four starts. But, since his pitch count has increased, he’s still flying through batters. The 16-game winner from last season has pitched into the sixth inning in five starts and has stayed under this player prop in four of them. His outs prop is set at 15.5, so we again should see around 85-90 pitches and the Dodgers not to stretch him out.
The Royals are a hand-gifted matchup for Gonsolin who is looking to get back on track. In terms of batting average against RHP, they rank in the bottom six of all teams in June and fourth worst this season. Ten of the 15 right-handed starters to face off against the Royals in June have stayed under this total including Bobby Miller to start the series.
