Tanner Houck is looking to bounce back after a rough outing in Philadelphia. The righty only threw 74 pitches but was pulled before he got out of the 6th inning after a 2-run home run by Kyle Schwarber. The good news for us is he’s back at home today.
Houck will face off against a Seattle Mariners squad that is striking out at near the top of the league against right-handers. Their 25% K rate ranks 3rd worst in baseball. He’s also due for positive regression with his xERA of 3.64. He’s faced loaded offenses as of late, so this matchup against the disappointing Mariners will be much needed for Houck.
Eleven of the last 12 right-handed starting pitchers have surpassed their K line against Seattle. Houck has yet to not go over his K line at home this season. Expect a long outing from Houck after the Red Sox are coming off a 9-1 loss on Sunday Night Baseball.
