Week 1 of the 2022 NFL campaign concludes with Monday Night Football, and this isn’t just any ol’ Monday Night Football game. It’s Russell Wilson going up against his former team, as the Denver Broncos are paying a visit to the Seattle Seahawks. Expectations are sizable for Wilson and the Broncos this season, but it won’t be easy playing in the high-powered AFC West. Denver really needs every win it can get, and a date with Seattle is projected to be one of the easier opportunities on the schedule.

With kickoff set for 8:15 pm ET on ESPN, it’s time to take a look at the best touchdown scorer bets to be made for Monday Night Football.

Denver Broncos touchdown scorer best bet: Albert Okwuegbunam, TE (+240)

Wilson should thrive in head coach Nathaniel Hackett’s west-coast offense, so there is no reason to expect regression from the quarterback’s time in Seattle. In 2021, Wilson threw for multiple touchdowns in 9 of 15 games even though the offense struggled mightily as a whole. Over the past 3 years, the former Wisconsin star has thrown multiple TD passes in 30 of 57 games. If that trend continues, Albert Okwuegbunam has a good chance to be one of the beneficiaries on Monday night.

He finished with only 2 scores last season, but he certainly didn’t have Wilson throwing him the football. The 2020 fourth-round pick out of Missouri caught 33 of 40 targets for 330 yards, which are decent numbers considering the offense in which he played. Okwiegbunam should improve dramatically in a Wilson-led offense – starting in Week 1. The Seahawks allowed the eighth-most fantasy points to tight ends last year and were second-to-last in passing defense.

Seattle Seahawks touchdown scorer best bet: Noah Fant, TE (+330)

I am staying on the tight-end train and also backing Noah Fant to find the endzone. The market is undervaluing Seahawks players and the team in general since Wilson is gone and Geno Smith is under center. However, Smith played 3-plus games while Wilson was injured last season and showed that he can handle the job – and did so against 3 of the best defenses in the league. Smith compiled the 4th-highest PFF grade, 5th-highest percentage of big-time throws and zero turnover-worthy plays on 45 drop-backs in the preseason.

Fant, who came over to Seattle in the Wilson trade, should benefit from Smith’s confidence. The Iowa product is coming off a 2021 campaign during which he hauled in 68 passes for 670 yards and 4 scores. DK Metcalf and Tyler Lockett will obviously draw a lot of attention from Denver’s defense, so don’t be surprised if Fant takes advantage.

Anytime Touchdown Scorer FAQs

What does “anytime touchdown scorer” mean?

Anytime touchdown scorer is a popular player prop bet that NFL bettors can wager on throughout the season. But what is it, and how do you win?

As the name suggests, placing a wager on the anytime touchdown scorer market is when you tip a particular player to score a touchdown during a game. This can be a rushing or receiving touchdown for an offensive player, or you can wager on a team’s defense/special teams to score a touchdown by interception return and fumble return or kickoff and punt returns.

If your player or defense scores a touchdown, you win! The odds will differ from player-to-player depending on the sportsbooks’ calculated probability of that player scoring.

Does anytime touchdown scorer include passing touchdowns?

Not for a quarterback, no. A player must get into the endzone, himself, in order to qualify as an anytime touchdown scorer. If a quarterback throws a touchdown pass, only the player who caught it counts as the scorer. If Joe Burrow throws a touchdown pass to Ja’Marr Chase, wagers placed on Evans as an anytime touchdown scorer will cash. However, those placed on Rodgers as an anytime touchdown scorer will not (unless he also runs for a TD). See below for more on what the anytime touchdown scorer market means for quarterbacks.

What does anytime touchdown scorer mean for a QB?

For a wager on a QB to be an anytime touchdown scorer to cash, he must follow the same rules as a running back, tight end, or receiver. He must get into the end zone himself, either as a runner or a pass-catcher.

In the age of the mobile quarterback, QBs such as Josh Allen, Patrick Mahomes, Lamar Jackson and Kyler Murray are often seen rushing in for a touchdown on any given Sunday. And don’t forget the occasional Philly Special, either. QBs can sometimes catch passes for TDs, too.
