There will be a ton of star power on the field for Sunday’s AFC Championship between the Cincinnati Bengals and the Kansas City Chiefs. The Chiefs feature QB Patrick Mahomes and future Hall of Fame tight end Travis Kelce, while the defending champion Bengals are led by Joe Burrow, Ja’Marr Chase and Joe Mixon. Who will be the star of the show and lead his team to the Super Bowl…and also to the end zone?

It’s time to take a look at the best touchdown scorer bets to be made for Cincinnati vs Kansas City.

Best Cincinnati Bengals touchdown scorer bet: Tee Higgins, WR (+185 at DraftKings)

The Chiefs allowed the most touchdown passes in the NFL (33) during the regular season, compared to only 10 rushing TDs. That points me in the direction of the Bengals’ pass-catchers, and I like Higgins’ value at +185 (Chase, for example, is -105 at DraftKings). The former Clemson standout hauled in 7 touchdown passes during the regular season. I don’t like the “he’s due” argument a whole lot, but…well…he’s due. Higgins has gone 3 straight games without scoring a TD and previously in this 2022 campaign he had never gone more than 2. In last year’s playoffs he had 7 catches for 96 yards against Tennessee, 6 receptions for 103 yards against Kansas City and 4 for 100 and 2 touchdowns in the Super Bowl loss to the Rams. Higgins knows how to get it done on the big stage.

Best Kansas City Chiefs touchdown scorer bet: Travis Kelce, TE (+100 at bet365)

Travis Kelce was an easy touchdown scorer prop winner for me last weekend in the Divisional Round, when he was -145 to score. Now that you can get him around even money at every sportsbook (including at +100 via bet365), I am not about to pass up the opportunity. Kelce churned out 12 touchdowns in the regular season, so he scores more often than not. The star tight end delivered a TD in all 3 playoff games last season and dating back to 2018 he has 13 touchdowns in the Chiefs’ last 11 playoff games, including 2 last week against Jacksonville. In last year’s AFC Championship loss to Cincinnati, Kelce hauled in 10 of 11 targets for 95 yards and a score.

Best longshot touchdown scorer bet: Patrick Mahomes, QB (+750 at FanDuel)

Mahomes ATTS is going to be a very polarizing bet this weekend. On one hand, some might think he has no chance given an ankle injury that probably has him at less than 100%. On the other hand, some are never going to bypass a +750 opportunity. It’s no surprise that the sportsbooks vary wildly with this prop. Mahomes is as low as +400 in some spots, but FanDuel has him at +750. That’s definitely good enough for me. If the the 2018 NFL MVP is at least somewhat mobile on Sunday, I wouldn’t be surprised if he makes an early statement by keeping it himself in the red zone. I can also see him scoring late if the Bengals’ fall asleep given his perceived immobility and he finds the end zone on a wide open bootleg. Whatever the case, Mahomes has scored at least 1 rushing touchdown in each of Kansas City’s 4 playoff runs with him under center. He has rushed for a TD in 5 of 12 career playoff games. This is worth a shot.

Anytime Touchdown Scorer FAQs

What does “anytime touchdown scorer” mean?

Anytime touchdown scorer is a popular player prop bet that NFL bettors can wager on throughout the season. But what is it, and how do you win?

As the name suggests, placing a wager on the anytime touchdown scorer market is when you tip a particular player to score a touchdown during a game. This can be a rushing or receiving touchdown for an offensive player, or you can wager on a team’s defense/special teams to score a touchdown by interception return and fumble return or kickoff and punt returns.

If your player or defense scores a touchdown, you win! The odds will differ from player-to-player depending on the sportsbooks’ calculated probability of that player scoring.

Does anytime touchdown scorer include passing touchdowns?

Not for a quarterback, no. A player must get into the endzone, himself, in order to qualify as an anytime touchdown scorer. If a quarterback throws a touchdown pass, only the player who caught it counts as the scorer. If Joe Burrow throws a touchdown pass to Ja’Marr Chase, wagers placed on Chase as an anytime touchdown scorer will cash. However, those placed on Burrow as an anytime touchdown scorer will not (unless he also runs for a TD). See below for more on what the anytime touchdown scorer market means for quarterbacks.

What does anytime touchdown scorer mean for a QB?

For a wager on a QB to be an anytime touchdown scorer to cash, he must follow the same rules as a running back, tight end, or receiver. He must get into the endzone himself, either as a runner or a pass-catcher.

In the age of the mobile quarterback, QBs such as Patrick Mahomes, Lamar Jackson, Josh Allen and Kyler Murray are often seen rushing in for a touchdown on any given Sunday. And don’t forget the occasional Philly Special, either. QBs can sometimes catch passes for TDs, too.
