My best TD scorer win this season was on Chicago QB Tyson Bagent at +550 odds, so I’m hunting more of the same on Monday Night Football of Week 12 as the Bears visit the Minnesota Vikings.
It has not been the best of seasons so far for the Bears, who are 3-8, but they might easily have been coming into this game on a 2-game winning streak after they threw away a 12-point lead in the last 4 minutes of their 31-26 loss to Detroit. The 6-5 Vikings are also coming off a narrow loss after their 5-game winning run ended in a 21-20 defeat to the Broncos, but the home team will be keen to get the win to reduce the gap to the Lions, who lost on Thanksgiving Day.
You can also check out our Bears vs Vikings predictions, but now let’s take a look at my favorite anytime touchdown scorer picks for Monday Night Football.
DJ Moore, WR, CHI (+200 at Bet365)
Bears receiver DJ Moore never really hit it off with Tyson Bagent when the rookie was starting for the Bears, but normal service resumed when Justin Fields returned against the Lions last week as Moore reached the end zone for the first time since the final game Fields started before his injury layoff — against Washington in early October. Moore was held without a touchdown in the 5 games that Bagent started, although he was still the team’s leading receiver in 3 of them.
He has scored all of his 6 touchdowns in the 6 games that Fields has started, and Bears receivers have been responsible for 8 of the 15 TDs the team scored in those games. The Vikings defense has given up 3 TDs to wide receivers (Chris Olave, AT Perry and Courtland Sutton) in their last 2 games, and could have a tough time keeping up with Moore on Monday.
Ty Chandler, RB, MIN (+250 at BetMGM)
Vikings fans will be hoping to see Justin Jefferson return in this game, but with their bye coming up next week, it would be sensible, if not so exciting, for the team to hold him out of one more game. Even so, I prefer to look at the Vikings’ ground game for a TD scorer on MNF and I’m looking at a young RB with plenty of juice in Ty Chandler. Alexander Mattison was the backup everyone wanted to see more of when he was #2 to Dalvin Cook last season, but while his performances meant the team was comfortable moving on from Cook, he hasn’t really looked like an alpha guy, with zero rushing TDs in 11 games this season, although he does have 3 receiving scores.
Head coach Kevin O’Connell has clearly been impressed with Chandler’s performances in the last two weeks, when he had 45 rushing yards against the Saints and then 73 against the Broncos, and his comments that Chandler has earned more playing time should lead to more chances for him to get into the end zone against Chicago.
