Sinner headlines the top half of the men’s singles draw, which is also home to Daniil Medvedev, Taylor Fritz and rising star Joao Fonseca. Emma Navarro endured one of the most difficult first-round matches of anyone in the tournament. She got a tough draw against fellow American Peyton Stearns and battled through a 3-set, 3-hour marathon. That could be the case for Navarro, who now gets a more favorable matchup with a #108-ranked opponent in Xiyu Wang.

It may not come here and now for the Tunisian, but she is at least playing a lot better than she did last year. She owns a 5-2 record for the season with a victory over Danielle Collins and losses only to red-hot foes in Yulia Putintseva and Mirra Andreeva. Moreover, Jabeur is 4-0 lifetime against Maria Camila Osorio Serrano and 8-1 in total sets. Expect her to continue that dominant run here.

Erika Andreeva +3.5 games over Beatriz Haddad Maia (+110)
The older Andreeva sister is not as highly ranked and doesn’t generate nearly as many headlines, but she is quietly putting together positive results of her own while methodically plodding her way up the rankings. This is a great opportunity for the Russian to make a real leap by securing a spot in a major 3rd round. Beatriz Haddad Maia is only 1-3 so far this year and needed 3 sets to defeat world #146 Julia Riera in the opening round. Heading into this season, the Australian Open was the only 1 of the 4 slams at which Haddad Maia did not have a winning record. The Brazilian’s struggles in Melbourne may continue against Erika Andreeva.
Parlay: Alex de Minaur -1.5 sets over Tristan Boyer and Joao Fonseca -1.5 sets over Lorenzo Sonego (-129)
Alex de Minaur is the host nation’s best hope Down Under; so far he has taken care of business. The world #8 opened with an easy win over Botic van de Zandschulp, who last year famously upset Carlos Alcaraz at the US Open and ended Rafael Nadal’s career at the Davis Cup finals. Things could be even more routine for De Minaur on Thursday, because Tristan Boyer is the #136 player in the rankings and had never participated in the main draw of an ATP-level event prior to this fortnight.
Meanwhile, the hype train is off the charts for Joao Fonseca after the 18-year-old trounced #9 seed Andrey Rublev in straight sets on Tuesday. Fonseca is on a 14-match winning streak, including a 9-0 record in 2025 with all 9 victories coming in straight sets. The Brazilian beat Lorenzo Sonego with ease last spring in Bucharest and has only improved massively since that meeting 9 months ago. These should be straightforward matches for both guys.
