The quarterfinals of the season’s first Grand Slam will wrap up on Wednesday. Headlining the Day 10 order of play at the Australian Open are Daniil Medvedev and Stefanos Tsitsipas. Both have tough tests on their hands in the form of Felix Auger-Aliassime and Jannik Sinner, respectively. A more surprising lineup on the women’s side features Iga Swiatek, Kaia Kanepi, Danielle Collins, and Alize Cornet.

Let’s take a look at the best bets to be made. Following a 15-3 performance across the last six days, we will try to keep the momentum going!

Jannik Sinner ML over Stefanos Tsitsipas (-147)

I’m disappointed to see that the market has correctly adjusted to the respective current form of Tsitsipas and Sinner, making Sinner the favorite. But it’s not surprising. And it shouldn’t prevent you from making the smart play on Sinner. He still has value. Tsitsipas has been in a slump since losing the 2021 French Open final against Novak Djokovic from two sets up. The 23-year-old Greek was also questionable to even play in this Australian Open because of an elbow problem. Well, he has played and also reached the semifinals — but he needed five sets against Taylor Fritz and went to four in two other matches. Sinner, who has soared to No. 10 in the world, has dropped only one set through four rounds. This is the 20-year-old Italian’s time.

At least one tiebreaker in Daniil Medvedev vs Felix Auger-Aliassime (-140)

Even if this one ends in straight sets (as it is expected to do in Medvedev’s favor), there is still a good chance that it produces at least one tiebreaker. Auger-Aliassime has already played six tiebreakers through four rounds, including four in four sets against Alejandro Davidovich Fokina in round two. Against Cilic, the Canadian did not lose serve a single time over the last three sets and two of the three went to tiebreakers. Medvedev played two tiebreakers against Maxime Cressy on Monday and did not drop serve a single time. The second-ranked Russian has been broken only three times in the entire tournament. If these guys continue to serve well, at least one tiebreaker can be expected in this quarterfinal contest.

Daniil Medvedev

Danielle Collins vs Alize Cornet Over 20.5 games (-120)

Come for the tennis, stay for the circus. That’s exactly what a Collins vs Cornet match will be — especially in the quarterfinals of a Grand Slam. These are two of the fieriest and combustible characters on the WTA Tour. At 33 years old, Cornet is making her first-ever appearance in the quarterfinals of a major. Collins has been to this stage just twice. It’s hard to see either one of these women winning in straightforward fashion in such a pressure-packed situation. Cornet is a considerable underdog, but she has already taken out slam champions Garbine Muguruza and Simona Halep in Melbourne. Both Collins and Cornet have played consecutive three-setters heading into Wednesday’s contest. Expect another one.
