The NFL Draft has come and gone, and it to say it provided plenty of entertainment would be a gross understatement. The Houston Texans traded up to give themselves 2 of the top 3 picks, Will Levis fell to the second round and the Philadelphia Eagles continued to select pretty much every defensive player who has ever put on a jersey for the University of Georgia.
Although the draft itself didn’t really shake up Super Bowl odds since — as always — is is the worst teams in the league who get the top picks, the offseason as a whole has significantly impacted the landscape of the league. Tom Brady retired, Aaron Rodgers went from the Green Bay Packers to the New York Jets and Lamar Jackson re-signed with the Baltimore Ravens after vowing to leave.
With that, let’s dive into the Super Bowl odds and discuss some early best bets to be made.

Super Bowl 58 prediction: Kansas City Chiefs +600
Kansas City is establishing itself as 1 of the NFL’s great dynasties. The Chiefs may not be quite at Patriots 2000s and Steelers 1970s levels, but they have played in 3 of the last 4 Super Bowls and have lifted the Lombardi Trophy twice during this dominant stretch. With Patrick Mahomes showing no signs of slowing down at the quarterback position, you have to think that his team will continue to be in the mix for many years to come. In addition to Mahomes, the Chiefs will be bringing back pretty much the entirety of the same team that just won it all. From a skill-position standpoint they are the best in the business, so if the offensive line improves a little bit (K.C. addressed it to some extent in the draft) then a successful repeat could be incoming.
Super Bowl 58 longshot pick: Detroit Lions +1900
It is true that the Eagles and 49ers are formidable, but I still think getting through the NFC will be easier than the AFC path. When you can avoid the Chiefs, Bills and Bengals (and even the Jets now?!?!) until at least the Super Bowl, it’s a good thing. The Lions missed the playoffs last season because they started 1-6, but they went 8-2 in their last 10 games and treated their finale against the Packers as their playoff game — which they won in Aaron Rodgers’ final game as a Packer at Lambeau Field. Detroit had 2 picks in each of the first 3 rounds of the draft, so this team is only getting better and better. Having also made significant upgrades to the secondary via free agency, I like the Lions as a +1900 longshot play. I’m not going crazy or anything, but at this value it’s worth a sprinkle.
