Philadelphia 76ers ML over Milwaukee Bucks (+108)

Following a tough loss at Detroit, where they faced a shorthanded Pistons team, the 76ers will try to bounce back this Sunday in Milwaukee. Joel Embiid remains on the injury report, but there is a chance he could suit up here with his knee swelling not being as serious as it was earlier in the year. Tyrese Maxey is someone the Sixers will look to rely on today; he is averaging more than 32 points per game in his last 10 games on 50.7% shooting from the field. In the 2 H2H showdowns this year, Maxey is averaging 31 points per game.

Milwaukee lost a disappointing game at Atlanta earlier this week. Bobby Portis did his best Giannis Antetokounmpo imitation with 26 points and 15 rebounds, but he just couldn’t make up for the Greek Freak’s absence in that game. Giannis is once again a game-time decision; without him Milwaukee has a losing record of just 4-5 SU this season. With a lot of certainty on the injury front for both teams, it’s hard to get a good read on this game. However, I am of the opinion that this game means a lot more to the 76ers — who are currently fighting for their playoff lives. I think it’s time they pulled one back after losing the 2 meetings earlier this season, so give me the 76ers on the road.

Damian Lillard to score 30+ points (+135)

No Giannis most likely means a big game from Damian Lillard and we’ve seen quite a few of those against the Philadelphia 76ers over the past few seasons. Dame is averaging 27.1 points per game in the last 10 meetings, he’s scored 30+ in 4 of them, the most recent one was on opening night in Philadelphia. For the season Lillard is averaging 25 points per game, but that number goes up to 29.6 per game in games where Antetokounmpo doesn’t play.

Apart from injuries, the biggest Achilles’ heel for the Philadelphia 76ers this season has been their perimeter defense. Opponents are shooting 36.9% against them from deep, which ranks them only 24th in the NBA. It gets even worse over their last 3 games, with teams shooting 37.8% from 3. That’s great news for Lillard, who at this stage of his career settles a lot more for the deep shot instead of taking it to the hole. That’s not necessarily a bad thing — in 2 meetings vs Philadelphia he has shot the 3-ball at 43.5% while also averaging 27.5 points per game. With a couple of extra shots coming his way, I am convinced he can push that number to 30 points.
