Football never stops, folks. There’s the season, then there’s free agency, then there’s the NFL Draft and then there’s training camp before we thankfully just do the cycle all over again. We are currently in draft mode, with the 2023 selection festivities set to begin on Thursday night in Kansas City, Missouri. The home of the defending Super Bowl champions should be in store for a wildly entertaining week, as this draft promises to be particularly chaotic. Heck, the #1 overall pick has already been moved – from the Chicago Bears to the Carolina Panthers. Now that #1 selection seems to be in a little bit of doubt, too.

2023 NFL Draft odds to be the first quarterback drafted
Odds for the first quarterback drafted are currently off the market as of Wednesday, but it is effectively the same thing as the #1 overall pick. After all, the Panthers didn’t mortgage a whole lot of their future to trade up and select a position other than QB. As such, we will focus on the very top of the board with Carolina essentially on the clock.
Here is the short list of quarterback favorites to go #1 overall:
Bryce Young -1600
Will Levis +650
CJ Stroud +2500
Anthony Richardson +3500
2023 NFL Draft quarterback to be the first pick prediction: Bryce Young (-1600)
Until Monday night, Young was basically a lock to be the first quarterback off the board and go #1 overall to the Panthers. Now he is close to a lock. A Reddit user claimed that Levis is telling people that Carolina is taking him, but obviously those claims are unproven. Whatever the case, Levis’ odds have soared. But it’s a no from me, dawg. Young is the best QB in this class and he stopped talking to other NFL teams after meeting with the Panthers. That’s a much more foolproof sign than some random user making a post on Reddit. I would avoid this market altogether with no value on Young at such small odds, but there is no reason to overthink the prediction that he is going first.

2023 NFL Draft quarterback to be the first pick longshot: CJ Stroud (+2500)
I’m not about to get sucked into Reddit rumors; this kind of stuff happens every year during the NFL Draft. Nor am I going to make a play on Levis when his odds are so much shorter than they were just a few hours ago. There is no value on him at this point. Instead, the only longshot play to make is on Stroud. It would be appropriate NFL Draft madness if all anyone is talking about is Young and Levis only to see Carolina shock the world and select Stroud. On paper, of course, it really wouldn’t be that shocking. Stroud is the most dynamic QB in this class and seems almost impossible to be a bust.
