There’s still a ways to go before the 2022 regular season. But that doesn’t mean we can’t still bet on the NFL. There are plenty of wagering opportunities during the offseason, including draft props. The 2022 NFL Draft is right around the corner, and it’ll be held from April 28-30 in Las Vegas.
Before names start getting called, we’ll have a ton of draft content coming to get you primed. For example, I recently took a look at my three favorite early prop bets. Today, we’ll be focusing on Travon Walker, and draft props surrounding the Georgia product who has been shooting up draft boards. We’ll start by taking a look at the odds, courtesy of DraftKings, before diving into the best bet:
2022 NFL Draft Travon Walker prop odds
There are a number of bets you can make on Walker. For starters, you can bet on him just to be the first overall pick at +180. He’s +300 to go second overall and +500 for third. He’s still 5/1 to go fourth and 7/1 to go fifth. DraftKings also has set an over/under on Walker’s draft position at 3.5. You’d have to lay -275 to go under while you can get +215 to go over.
Walker’s odds have been really interesting to watch, and it’s been some of the sharpest movement we’ve seen in recent draft classes. Around a month ago, you could’ve gotten Walker as a 20/1 long-shot to go first overall. But steam has steadily been picking up in his favor. He’s got a lot of momentum with the draft now only a week away. Now let’s get to the fun part, our best bet:
2022 NFL Draft Travon Walker prop best bet
I think there’s a very good chance Walker goes first overall. There have been murmurs that Jaguars GM Trent Baalke could be enthralled with his raw athletic traits. But Walker’s draft positioning seems high variance, and I wouldn’t be at all surprised if he tumbled so I lean toward the over 3.5, catching +215.
Everybody is understandably excited about his physical testing and athleticism, but he wasn’t actually that productive in college. That kind of prospect can scare a lot of teams. Walker didn’t play that huge of a role his first two years at Georgia, and even in his best season yet in 2021 he only had six sacks.
Michigan’s Aidan Hutchinson is still the somewhat heavy betting favorite to go number one. The Lions have the second pick, and they’ve been heavily linked to Oregon’s Kayvon Thibodeaux. And people seem to think the Texans, who own the third pick, are leaning toward selecting an offensive tackle of the future in either Evan Neal or Ikem Ekwonu.
Walker’s odds have shifted dramatically the past few weeks, and at this point, I feel like oddsmakers have overcompensated. There’s value going the other way now.
