The Philadelphia Eagles won the Super Bowl last year and the expectation was high coming into the 2018-19 season that they could repeat. They started off the season slow but they made a nice run to get them into the playoffs. Once they got into the playoffs they went to Chicago and pulled off the upset. They also gave the New Orleans Saints a run for their money in the second game of the playoffs but they couldn’t pull it off. The big question for bettors is did they put money in their pocket? There are some really bad teams that are good teams to bet on and some really good teams that lose bettors a lot of money. Let’s dive into the Philadelphia Eagles Betting Recap for the 2018 season now.
Philadelphia Eagles Against The Spread
The Eagles were 9-7 straight up against the spread, but they weren’t a good team against the spread this year. On the season they were 7-9 against the spread. At home is where they really struggled going only 3-5 against the spread compared to on the road they were 4-4 against the spread. One of the reasons they really struggled against the spread is they seemed to be overvalued early in the year and it cost a lot of people a lot of money.
Most people don’t expect the Super Bowl champion to struggle early in the season but that’s exactly what happened.
On grass they were 6-7 against the spread and 1-2 against the spread on turf.
Philadelphia Eagles Over Under
The Eagles were pretty even on the over/under this season but the under was the play just a few more times. On the season the play was on the over seven times compared to the under which hit nine times.
At home the under was the play six times and the over was the play two times. Away from home though the over was the play five times while the under was the play three times. It seems to be their scoring was overvalued at home and that made the over the play a lot more.
Philadelphia Eagles 2019-20 Odds
The expectations are high for the Philadelphia Eagles next season and they currently sit with 20/1 odds which is tied for the 6th best odds in the NFL.
For the NFC they are tied with the Green Bay Packers at 10/1 odds to make it to the Super Bowl which is tied for the fifth best odds.
Eagles outlook
The Philadelphia Eagles expectations are high for next season and for good reason, especially if Carson Wentz is healthy, but that seems to be a big if. The Eagles are moving on from Nick Foles so if he Wentz gets injured they aren’t going to have someone to fall back on, and that’s concerning. I think the Eagles could win the Super Bowl if he Wentz stays healthy but because of his injury history, this is a bet I would stay far away from.
A back injury is something that could stay with him forever and I think it’s going to pop back up at the worst time, just like his injuries have had the last few years.
