We have reached week eight of the NBA season and the grind is really starting to take its toll on the players. Let’s break down the key NBA injury report and how teams are affected.
Marvin Williams Power Forward Hornets
Marvin Williams is still dealing with a strained right shoulder and is expected to be out at least the next three games. In his absence, Miles Bridges and Michael Kidd-Gilchrist should get more playing time and Frank Kaminsky also could see a boost.
Kevin Love Power Forward Cavaliers
Kevin Love is still dealing with a toe injury and he isn’t expected back until the middle of January, as long as he doesn’t deal with any setbacks.
Isaiah Thomas Point Guard Nuggets
Isaiah Thomas is still recovering from hip injury, but it looks like he is getting closer to a return. There is a chance he could return later this week, and if not this week it should be next week. The Nuggets are already a really good team and getting Thomas back is just a bonus.
Draymond Green Power Forward Warriors
Draymond Green is dealing with a toe injury and has missed the last eight games. He is not expected to play in the Warriors road trip, but when they return to Oracle he could be good to go.
The Warriors have had a mosh posh of players trying to fill his role and it hasn’t been great.
DeMarcus Cousins Center Warriors
DeMarcus Cousins is still working back from an Achilles injury but he is getting closer and closer to a return. He is expected to be out until after Christmas but should be back soon after that.
Victor Oladipo Shooting Guard Pacers
Victor Oladipo is still dealing with knee soreness and it’s unclear when he will return. He is still out indefinitely and the team said they will update it when they have a better idea. Aaron Holiday and the rest of the crew are stepping up while he is out, but Oladipo being out is still a big blow to the team.
Rajon Rondo Point Guard Lakers
Rajon Rondo can do non-contact work after breaking his hand but he still hasn’t been cleared for more than that. It should only be a week or two before he is available to return.
Chander Parsons Small Forward Grizzlies
Chandler Parsons is one of the most injury-prone players in the NBA and is dealing with a knee injury but should be back next week. It’s unclear even healthy if he will have much of a roll in this time.
Devin Booker Point Guard Suns
Devin Booker has dealt with injuries off and on this year and right now he is dealing with a hamstring injury. He isn’t expected to miss a long time but even when he is playing don’t expect him at 100 percent.
Pau Gasol Power Forward Spurs
Pau Gasol is dealing with a stress fracture in his foot and is out indefinitely. He isn’t in a walking boot anymore but he is still probably out until at least January.
