New York Yankees vs Pittsburgh Pirates Prediction, Odds and Picks for Today, 04/04/25

The Bronx Bombers lived up to their name on Wednesday night when Aaron Judge, Jazz Chisholm and Trent Grisham all homered in the final game of the series against the Diamondbacks, securing a 9-7 victory. The Yankees pitching continues to be a struggle, as they hold a team ERA of 4.67, which is something to keep an eye on. Today, the Yankees will make a quick trip to Pittsburgh for their first road game of the season, hoping to carry their hot bats with them as they look to keep things rolling on the road.

Max Fried is slated to take the mound today for the Yankees today. Fried was unable to secure a win in his last start pitching just 4.2 innings, giving up two earned runs on seven hits against the Brewers. For the Pirates, Mitch Keller will start on the mound, who is 1-0 on the season with a 1.50 ERA. Keller had a solid pitching performance against Miami in his first start of the season, pitching 6 innings, striking out 4 and only allowing 5 hits and 1 earned run. Despite Keller having a great pitching performance against Miami, this Yankees lineup is way more dangerous than the Miami Marlins. Aaron Boone keeps switching up the lineup to find out what works best, but when you have players hitting homers from all over the lineup, it’s not a bad problem to have. The Yankees have belted 22 homers already this season in six games, leading all of majors in that category. Pittsburgh, meanwhile, has struggled from the plate. They are 26th in OPS (.569), with just 4 homers and averaging 2.7 runs per game. To make matters worse, Pittsburgh is batting .077 against lefties this season and finished last year with a .241 team average. Overall, this Yankees team is hitting the ball extremely well and I think they’ll give Mitch Keller and the rest of this Pittsburgh team a tough time, which is why I’m backing the Yankees money line as my best bet of the day.
